New Zealand Prime Minister John Key said it is Pacific Forum business, not an alleged assassination plot, that has his Foreign Minister Murray McCully in Fiji.

There were overseas media reports earlier this week that the NZ Police are investigating an alleged plot against Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

John Key told NZ City.com that McCully is in Fiji because he’s the chair of the ministerial contact group, which will have a meeting later in the week.

Key said New Zealand continues to engage with Fiji and wants to help the country back to the restoration of democracy.

Key said he doesn’t think it is likely McCully will brief the local authorities on the operation that occurred in New Zealand.
