Richie McCaw looks likely to miss a chunk of Super Rugby after only managing one half of the Crusaders 35-24 loss to the Blues last night.

McCaw has suffered a suspected fractured thumb.

Coach Todd Blackadder said his side has no one but themselves to blame for their loss.

He said there were two stand out mistakes that put them under pressure initially and then they did not help themselves from that point on.

Meanwhile, the Rebels have opened their campaign with their first ever win over a South African side, beating the Cheetahs 35-14.

This morning the Stormers were forced to come from behind to claim a 19-18 victory over the Hurricanes in a tense clash.

In today’s matches, the Chiefs will play the Highlanders at 6.35pm, the Waratahs will face the Reds at 8.40pm and the Force will play the Brumbies at 11pm.
