All Blacks and Crusaders captain Richie McCaw is hoping to play his first Super Rugby match this season against the Reds.

McCaw has not played rugby since he captained the All Blacks to Rugby World Cup glory in October last year.

McCaw will not play in this week’s Crusaders match against the Hurricanes in Wellington and next week’s tenth round Waratahs match in Sydney.

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder confirmed that Tom Taylor will continue to play for the Crusaders at first-five and Daniel Carter will continue in the number 12 jersey.

Taylor stood out in the Crusaders 31-24 victory over the Stormers as he scored all of the Crusaders points through a try, conversion and eight penalties.

The Crusaders will take on the Hurricanes at 7.35pm this Saturday.

Meanwhile, at 7.35pm this Friday, the Blues will play the Highlanders and at 9.40pm the Reds will take on the Stormers.
