Richie McCaw may not be written-off for the whole of the Crusaders campaign.
Despite the tight deadline between his return to rugby duties on July 1st and the All Blacks' opening test against the Wallabies on August 17th, there remains a chance the All Blacks captain could represent the Crusaders if they battle with injuries.
Expectations were always low that McCaw, whose sabbatical allows him to skip all rugby until July 1st, would be sighted during the Super Rugby campaign.
Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder said open side flanker McCaw has not been ruled out.
The Crusaders will play the Highlanders at 7:35pm Saturday.
On Friday the Hurricanes meet the Force at 7:35pm and at 9:40pm the Reds face the Brumbies.
