Police Prosecutors at the Suva Magistrates court have confirmed that the Director of Public Prosecutions lawyers will take stand in the case of Australian National Simon McCartney this afternoon who is charged with the alleged murder of his wife Ashika Lata.

McCartney was charged with murder over the weekend and appeared in a special court sitting yesterday where he was remanded in custody.

His lawyer, Saveloni Valenitabua was very disappointed this morning as the police and DPP had not called his case. McCartney is expected to appear in court in the next hour.

Ashika Lata's body was found in Deuba last week.

26 year old, Ashika Lata McCartney who was reported missing soon after she arrived in the country from Australia last month was found dead along Deuba highway last week.
