The Lord Mayor of Suva and President of the Local Government Association is seriously concerned over the recent directive by the Interim Local Government Minister for the municipal councils to only have two special meetings in a month.
Ratu Peni Volavola said the ministry should respect the municipal councillors as they are elected representatives and no attempt should be made to bulldoze their way through.
Volavola said nothing much will be achieved if the municipal councils only have two special meetings in a month.
However, Interim Local Government Minister Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi remained undeterred and said the Councils will have to abide by the directive.
