Two Members of Parliament taken hostage by George Speight and others on 19th May, 2000, have now applied to reinstate their compensation case, which was earlier struck out by the High Court.

Vipul Mishra, who is representing Amjad Ali and Dr Gunasegran Goundar, today asked the Master of Court to have access to the court records on how their compensation case was struck out.

Outside the High Court, Mishra said they would decide in a fortnight if they will appeal against the striking out of their case or they will move ahead with their current case.

Mishra added that he has also been approached by other plaintiffs to revive their case but as of today he is only representing Doctor Goundar and Amjad Ali.

2000 coup leader, George Speight represented himself in the case today.

Ali and Doctor Goundar are suing Speight, the State, the then Police Commissioner Isikia Savua and Army Commander, Commodore Frank Bainimarama. T
