Villagers of Mavana in Lau for the first time heard loud noise which is similar to the sound of thunder and saw a long line of waves measuring about 1 metres high, hitting the seawalls of the island.
One of the villagers Virisila Bui said she could not believe what she saw this morning but could only watch from her doorstep.
