Three mataqalis of Naitasiri received a timely payout for the settlement of their compensation for the Monasavu dam being situated on their land.
The Mataqalis of Lawaki, Rovadrau and Nabuloutini received $53,000 this afternoon from their legal representative Isireli Fa, the trustee of the land payment and Fijian Affairs Ministry Rep Waisea Drodrolagi, who ensures the payouts are used wisely.
Fa said this is just the third payout with more to come in the future.
Mataqali Rovadrau member, Kitione Tuilau said these payments are very useful and with the payments they have received to date, which all goes into a landowners' trust account, has been used to build six homes with kitchens and buy a carrier for their transportation needs.
Tuilau said it is yet to be decided what other projects this current payout will fund adding they will keep investing the money they receive.
