Tourism Fiji New Zealand has credited the work of their Matai specialists during difficult periods of campaigning.
Regional director Sala Lesuma said Matai specialists are travel agents located throughout New Zealand who have extensive firsthand knowledge about Fiji.
While concerns have been raised about negative reporting surfacing in the overseas media, Lesuma said they did not have to worry much about such issues, as the Matai specialists were quick to answer to any queries from those wanting to holiday in Fiji.
Lesuma added the biggest challenge that they did face was due to the recession more than any other issue.
New Zealand recorded a 11.2 percent increase of visitor arrivals for the month of April compared to the same period last year.
