Viliame Mata is expected to be named for Fiji in the inaugural Sydney 7s this weekend.

Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan says one area they need to improve on is their kicking game.

He adds that they will have to use the interchange rule to their advantage.

Questions were raised on where is Fiji’s aggressive defence and there are also worrying signs that Fiji could not match the speed of the South Africans.

Restarts were also a major concern in the tournament as Fijian jumpers could not get clean takes from kick offs.

Looking at the series standings, South Africa leads the table with 54 points, Fiji is in second place with 52 points, New Zealand jumped from 7th to 3rd place with 47 points while England and Argentina are in fourth place with 41 points.

Fiji is pooled with Samoa, Argentina and France.

They will take on Samoa at 12pm Saturday in their first pool game.

Fiji takes on France at 3.18pm and their final pool game is against Argentina at 7.21pm Saturday.

The Cup quarter finals start at 12.35pm Sunday, the semis start at 4.57pm and the final kicks off at 8.04pm Sunday.

The Sydney 7s will be held this Saturday and Sunday.
