South Africa coach Heyneke Meyer says mastery of scrums, line drives and the breakdown will win the World Cup.

He made these comments after his 31‑man squad arrived in England for the tournament.

According to Meyer these are three areas that will determine the outcome of the tournament and they have spent a lot of time working on them.

He adds all the opponents will be difficult and they will have to approach each game as if it were a final. The challenge is to play seven great games in a row.

The Springboks will start their campaign next Sunday against Japan at 3.45am.

Meyer says they have studied Japan and it is not going to be easy.

South Africa's other pool opponents are Samoa, Scotland and the United States with the Boks heavily fancied to finish top of their group and to reach the quarter‑finals.
