Blues coach Sir John Kirwan is looking for more from Benji Marshall before the league recruit is offered a starting spot in Super Rugby.

Marshall has spent time at both first-five and fullback in pre-season, but is set to be benched for the Blues season opener against the Highlanders on Saturday.

Sir John Kirwan said Marshall still has some work to do in adapting to union.

He said Marshall has a little bit to go and he is the first one to admit that, and although he will be in the squad they will not expose him until he is ready.

The Blues side for the match will be named later today.

The Blues and the Highlanders match kicks off at 6.35pm this Saturday. Meanwhile, the Crusaders and the Chiefs match kicks off at 6.35pm tomorrow.
