With only two days of shopping left to Christmas, market vendors are experiencing very slow sales.

Fijivillage spoke to vendors at the Suva Market.

Sunio Koto from Waibau said that the price of dalo has risen dramatically, from the normal price of $15 a bundle to $20 with only 10 plants in a bundle.

Veremo Tunidau from Waidina said that the dalo species 'Uro ni Vonu' usually cost $12 but he has had to sell it for $18, as this year he does not have much left after the floods and was forced to increase the price.

Ono-I-Lau villager, Koto Wasa said the prices the farmers sell their dalo for is too high, but they have no choice, as they are making very little profit.

Meanwhile, shoppers also raised concerns on the price of food and all this is affecting their Christmas shopping budget.
