One of the top runners for the Coca Cola Games blue ribbon event has been ruled out.
Marist Brothers High School Athletics Manager, Navitalai Waiwalu confirmed that Marist sprinter Apolosi Ratumudu failed to make the qualifying time in the senior boys 100 metres event during the Suva Zone Two meet.
The qualifying time for the senior boys 100 metres was 11 seconds.
Ratumudu who won the Intermediate Boys 100 metres final last year was one of the favourites in the Senior Boys event this year.
During the Zone 2 boys 100m final last month, Powell beat Ratumudu.
Meanwhile, six Coca Cola Game Zones use the new qualifying system.
This is based on the qualifying times.
They are Suva Zone One and Two, Triple N, Tailevu Zone, Ovalau and Taveuni.
The other Zones use the old qualifying system where the first two place‑getters automatically qualify for the Coke Games.
The Coca Cola Games will be held on the 24th and 25th of this month.
