Marist Brothers High school has defended their Suva Zone 2 title but with a strong challenge from Coca Cola games champions Suva Grammar school.
Marist Brothers won the boys division with 22 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze while Suva Grammar settled with 19 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze.
Jai Narayan college finished third with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
This is the perfect build up to the Coca Cola games as athletes from various schools put up an excellent performance in various grades yesterday.
Marist Brothers team manager, Navitalai Waiwalu said it was a relief to come out winners again.
However, Suva Grammar coach, Jone Delai said this is just Zone as the main title is still with the Grammarians.
Meanwhile, in the girls division, Suva Grammar defended their title with 17 gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze.
Rampur College came second with 7 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.
Lomary secondary came in third with 5 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze.
Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro was named the best male athlete after he won three gold medals and also broke two records.
In the 100 meters final, Tabakaucoro clocked a time of 10.20 secs beating the old record of 10.31 secs which was set by him in the Suva zone 2 last year.
Tabakaucoro also broke the record in the 200 meters event clocking a time of 20.80 secs.
The old record of 20.82 secs was set by him last year.
Suva Grammar school athlete, Suliana Gusuivalu was named the best female athlete after she won three gold medals.
