The defending champions of the Marist 7s Tabadamu Red are through to the semifinals after defeating Redrock 20-0 in the first quarterfinal of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s at the ANZ Stadium.

Tabadamu Red will face Army Green in the first semifinal after Army Green beat Police Blue 24-19.

New Net from Yasawa created the biggest upset in the quarterfinals after they defeated giants Nawaka Nadi 22-0 to force their way into the semifinals and will face Wardens Gold.

Wardens Gold defeated Seniboro 17-7 in the last quarterfinal match.

Tabadamu Red coach Pio Kaberi had told Fijivillage that they will entertain the crowd during their quarterfinal match and that they have the players who can deliver.

He said they are playing for the underprivileged and the victims of Cyclone Winston.

Kaberi said earlier that they have the experience to retain the title but it will depend on how the players perform during the tournament.

He said Sitiveni Waqa, Jone Vota, David Batiratu and Leo Naikasau are proving themselves as they want a position in the national 7s side.

Meanwhile some players who have been outstanding for Wardens Gold are Abele Yalayalatabua and Sevuloni Tawake.

Police Blue is also looking good with experienced players like Keponi Paul, Filipo Daugunu, Rusiate Matai and Livai Ikanikoda playing in the team.

Meanwhile, in the main elimination results, Red Rock thrashed Niubuto Kadavu 44-0 Westfield Dragons lost to Army Green 5-14, NewNet won against Hideaway Hurricanes 12-10, Nawaka beat Lodoni 7-5 while Seniboro upset Wardens Green 17-12.
