Police in Lautoka raided a cane farm and uprooted 100 marijuana plants with a street value of more than $200,000 yesterday afternoon.
Assistant Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said the plants were four to five feet tall and were matured.
The raid was carried out following a tip off.
Police also managed to confiscate some dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
The 31yr old farm owner is in police custody and is expected to be charged soon.
Earlier this week Police raided a farm in Navosa and uprooted 600 marijuana plants to the estimated value of six million dollars.
Also, a 24yr old man of Waiqele, Labasa died instantly after the van he was travelling in collided head on with a car in Lajonia, Labasa last night.
Police Regional Operations Officer Northern, SP Bola Tamanisau has confirmed that the deceased was travelling in a van driven by his elder brother when the accident took place.
Police believe the van driver was speeding and as a result lost control and collided head-on with an oncoming car.
The driver of the other vehicle is also admitted at the Labasa hospital.
