Police have now extended their investigations to Viti Levu to hunt for people allegedly involved in the biggest marijuana bust in Vanua Levu that was uncovered last Friday.

Divisional Crime Officer Northern ASP Luke Rawalai confirmed that investigations so far have revealed that a network of people are operating both in Vanu Levu and in Viti Levu to transport the drugs to and from different locations around Fiji.

ASP Rawalai said they have also managed to establish that the network of drug peddlers have been in operation without detection for a number of years.

He said that they have managed to trace the alleged drug dealers who were involved in the buying and selling of marijuana from Suva to Labasa.

Meanwhile, the truck driver has been questioned and released pending investigations as a number of people associated with the dealers are now being arrested and taken to police stations in Seaqaqa and Labasa for questioning. The amount of marijuana confiscated so far has a street value of more than $100,000.

The alleged network of drug peddlers was uncovered after police in Seaqaqa found dried leaves believed to be marijuana hidden in secret compartments in a ten wheeler truck after stripping it down yesterday.
