Many people who are obese are also anemic
The Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma said that it is a very strange combination that obesity and anemic problem comes together in a person.
He said they have found in a survey that iron deficiency is a major problem in the country amongst many people however more women and children are victim to this.
Meanwhile, there were 352 cases of diabetes last year with CWM hospital recording the highest number.
Statistics released by the Health Ministry shows that there were 143 cases of diabetes in the Central division followed by the Northern Division with 127 cases and most of the cases coming from the Savusavu Hospital.
Western Division recorded 80 cases with 64 coming from the Nadi hospital.
The statistics also reveal that diabetes was prevalent in Indo Fijians with 212 compared to the indigenous Fijians recording only 123 cases and the most alarming was that 183 females had diabetes compared to males recording only 169 diabetes cases last year.
