Many businesses have closed in Lautoka due to the heavy rain.
A businessman Kishore Kapadia said workers have started going home as flood waters have started entering their shops.
As heavy rain continues in Lautoka teams from DISMAC are currently evacuating families from the Hart settlement in Vitogo, Lautoka as flood waters entered their homes.
DISMAC's Western Official Taniela Vocevoce said families from the settlement are being taken to Lovu Sangam School and has called on people to act now while it's still daylight and move to higher ground. He is also calling on the people in Ba to also act now and move as heavy rain is being experienced there.
He also revealed that more than 6000 people are still at 58 evacuation centres in the Western Division.
