It is now mandatory for all government ministries to incorporate data into their policies to show how the gender gap in the work force is being dealt with.
This is in line with the Ministry of women and social welfare mandate of achieving gender equality, empowerment of women and reducing poverty to a negligible level.
Public Relations Officer Anshoo Chandra said this will help policy makers make informed choices based on what both genders have contributed to economic development.
The UN 2007 revised list of gender specific indicators for MDG recommends that sex dis-aggregated data be made available to show the differences between males and females to provide qualitative information on gender and women issues.
