A man who raped his cousin in Nausori in 2018 has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by High Court Judge, Justice Salesi Temo.
The 26-year-old man raped the Year 12 student during a party.
Justice Temo says the man was supposed to look after the woman but he took her to a drinking party, tried to force her to drink alcohol and later raped her.
The Judge says the man forcefully held the victim’s neck in a strangling manner then threatened to kill her if she raised the alarm.
Justice Temo has not set a non-parole period.
