A 57-year-old man of Vunivau is currently under police guard at the Labasa Hospital after he allegedly murdered his 53-year-old wife and his 93-year-old father-in-law early this morning.
               
Police said a 29-year-old male upon returning from drinking grog heard the commotion and cry for help from the house of the deceased.

He went to check and saw the man allegedly striking a 23-year-old woman with an axe outside the house.
                                 
Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the 29-year-old tried to intervene but was also attacked by the suspect.
           
The 23-year-old woman also received head injuries and is admitted at Labasa Hospital.

The suspect is also admitted for hypertension.

Investigations continue.
