A 20 year old man who intervened to stop a fight at the Suva market was killed in the process yesterday.
Police spokesperson Ema Mua has confirmed that the incident took place when the deceased was on his way to the bus stand.
According to Mua, the deceased saw two men fighting and when he intervened to stop the fight, one of the two fighting allegedly stabbed him on the chest.
He was rushed to the CWM hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
A 31 year old man is in custody and is being interrogated by police, while police are awaiting the post mortem report.
