A 34 year old man who was just sentenced this morning to ten months imprisonment for burglary and theft has escaped from the Suva Magistrates court.
    
Police said Josua Naivalu escaped while being escorted from the Magistrate Court 2 at 10.30 this morning.

A team is currently searching for Naivalu and are appealing for information that could help locate him.

Anyone with information is requested to contact 917 or your nearest community post or station.

Police said an internal investigation is also underway to determine how Naivalu escaped Police custody.

Josua Naivalu on the 18th of April, this year broke into Fong Lee Seafood restaurant in Suva and stole items valued at $850.

Naivalu who has previous convictions for similar offences had asked the court this morning for leniency and had said he will not re offend in future.
