A 33-year-old man remains in custody in relation to the murder of the 14-year-old girl in Deuba.

A team of police officers are also interviewing some people who were seen in the area.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said the post mortem result states that the girl died due to brain hemorrhage.

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said that they are also investigating whether there was parental negligence in this case.

The Year 7 student from Lepanoni had gone for Palm Sunday rehearsal at a nearby church on Sunday afternoon.

She then told her parents that she was going to a church crusade on Sunday evening.

The 14-year-old girl was missing from Sunday night.

Her body was found at Deuba beach on Monday afternoon.
