Man made beach to be made along Nasese
The Suva City Council, in their initiative to beautify the city to attract tourists, will now be looking at beautifying the Nasese Drive beach front, though it does not fall within their jurisdiction.
After have a few meetings with the Ports Authority of Fiji, SCC Director Health, Nacanieli Kotoiwasawasa said they will now be undertaking the cleaning up of the foreshore as well as remodeling the area.
Another area the Council is looking at is installing 10 exercise stations along the Queen Elizabeth Drive.
Meanwhile, the Lami Town Council is currently working on a five year plan on a 25 million dollar foreshore development.
CEO, Priya Ieli said they are awaiting approval from the Lands Department before they start reclaiming the land in front of Lami town.
She adds few investors have shown keen interest in commercial development there and they will be looking for more investors.
This project is expected to boost the economy in Lami and the council is hoping this multimillion dollar project will be completed in five to seven years.
