A 40‑year‑old man of Lautoka is currently in Police Custody following the discovery of the body of a 1‑year‑old child.
It is alleged that the man's vehicle was seen at the scene where the body was found.
The body was found by a 66‑year‑old woman believed to be the child's neighbour between 12 to 1pm on Saturday at Vomo Street.
He was taken to the Lautoka Hospital but was pronounced dead.
In another incident, a 6‑year‑old child who was involved in an accident in Nausori last week died this morning.
The child was allegedly bumped by a vehicle driven by a 45‑year‑old man of Lakena.
The man was driving along Vunimono in Wainibokasi Road when it is alleged the victim suddenly crossed the road.
The incident occurred last Friday.
Investigations continue.
