Police have taken a 27 year old Tailevu man into custody for allegedly attempting to rape a 12 year old student of Tacirua East on Wednesday night.
The Assistant Police PRO, Corporal Josaia Weicavu said the girl from Ba was visiting relatives at the time of the incident. He said it is alleged that she was sleeping in the sitting room when the suspect woke her up and asked her to massage his back in his room.
According to Corporal Weicavu, while the girl was massaging his back, the man is alleged to have tried to rape her, however, ran away after the girl screamed for help.
He was arrested in Korovou Town yesterday and will be appearing in court soon.
