Man gets 6 months for stabbing
He was charged with act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The court heard that on 20th November last year Satish Lal was drinking with his friend at a nightclub and they left together after it closed.
They roamed around the two and later the two separated.
Lal's friend was making his way towards the bus stand when he was confronted by Lal who started swearing at him.
This annoyed Lal's friend and he punched the accused that took out a kitchen knife and stabbed his friend twice on his face and back.
Lal's friend chased him who ran towards a Police Post where he was arrested.
In mitigation Lal told the court that he was 26-year-old, single, worked as a sales boy and earned $70 a week.
He also told the court that he has pleaded guilty and is a first offender and was remorseful.
Magistrate Rokotinaviti after considering his mitigation sentenced him to six months imprisonment.
