A 32-year-old man drowned in the Wainivula River near the Bailey Bridge yesterday afternoon.
According to police, the man was drunk at the time of the incident.
He was drinking with his friends near the bridge when they decided to have a swimming competition.
The deceased swam half way before he disappeared.
His body was later found floating in the river by his friends.
