A 30-year-old contractor of Vatutu, Nadi, passed away this morning after a road accident on Denarau Road late yesterday.
Police Director of Traffic Mahesh Mishra said the contractor was driving with two passengers towards Nadi when he lost control of the vehicle and had a head-on collision with another vehicle.
The victim allegedly drove off the road to try and overtake a vehicle travelling in the same direction.
The accident allegedly occurred when he tried to drive back on to the road while trying to avoid a concrete post.
Mishra confirmed that the driver passed away at the hospital this morning.
A 25-year-old man is admitted in Lautoka Hospital in critical condition while the other 44-year-old passenger is admitted at the Nadi Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Mishra reminded drivers not to speed and to respect road rules.
