A man who allegedly assaulted a police officer has been denied bail by the Suva Magistrates Court.
30-year-old Peni Gonemataitabua who is charged with one count of resisting arrest, one count of damaging property, one count of escaping from lawful custody, one count of assaulting a police officer and breaching a Domestic Violence Restraining Order was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
It is alleged that he assaulted a police officer of the Raiwaqa Police Station when he was taken in for breaching a Domestic Violence Restraining Order last Friday.
Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne remanded the man in custody saying that he has committed a serious offence.
The matter will be called again on the 1st of next month.
