A man charged with the possession of illicit drugs, today appeared before Magistrate Josaia Waqaivolalvola refuting police reports submitted in Court.

The court heard from Sergeant Eroni Soqo that Lote Seruitalatala on the 18th of April 2005, was arrested at his Drekinakelo home in Tailevu, and was found in possession of 66 rolls of marijuana as well as some dried leaves.

Soqo said they arrived at his house and two of his men had to chase after the accused after he fled and arrested him a few meters away from his home.

However Seruitalatala refuted Sgt Soqo's statement saying they had never searched his house and that he did not run as claimed.

Magistrate Waqaivolavola then questioned Sgt Soqo if proper procedures were carried out during the arrest and interviewing process which he replied that everything was within proper procedures.

The case continues this afternoon.
