Man charged with impersonation appears in court
Waisea Cama appeared before Magistrate Pramila Ratnayake.
Cama is charged by FICAC for obtaining a financial advantage by deception.
It is alleged that Cama, between 27th of April and 13th of this month approached and promised two people that he would obtain a taxi permit and a mini bus permit for them, if they gave him a total sum of $1,060 in cash.
On the second charge, Cama is alleged to have impersonated a public officer and falsely represented himself as an employee of the Land Transport Authority.
It is alleged that he approached two other people and promised to obtain a taxi permit and mini bus permit for them.
No plea was taken as Cama's legal Aid representative Nilseh Sharma asked that it be deferred until full disclosure has been served.
Magistrate Ratnayake granted him bail on the condition that he report twice weekly to the FICAC office in Suva.
Cama is expected to appear in Court again on the 2nd of next month.
