A 47 year old employee of a prominent gas company charged with the embezzlement of more than $40,000 was granted bail by the Suva Magistrate court.

It is alleged that between 1st January, 2004 to July 2007 Christopher Yee embezzled $45,938 whilst employed as a credit clerk.

He was granted bail on the sum of $500 dollars and was ordered by the Magistrates Court to report to the Valelevu Station twice a week and to surrender his travel documents.

His plea has been deferred as Yee informed the court that his lawyer was in the West.

The matter has been adjourned to 26th January.
