Nearly nine months after the horrific accident at Savutalele Tacirua which claimed the lives of four people, Police have now charged a man for accident.
Former PWD Driver 50 year old, Umesh Chand appeared in Nasinu court today charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm.
No plea was taken and he has been told to arrange a lawyer for himself.
He was granted $500 bail with strict conditions that he has to report to Police Station on every Saturdays and has to surrender all his travel documents.
The case is adjourned to November 15th.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Moshra told Fijivillage news that certain things needed to be clarified after which the charges were laid yesterday.
Last year in November, four people lost their lives and others were injured after a Public Works Department truck had a head on collision with another truck and a minivan near Savutalele settlement in Tacirua.
The PWD truck was on its way from Suva to Nausori when it hit a small goods carrier first before colliding head on with the minivan which was coming from Nausori to Suva.
