Man charged in relation to Howell Rd murder
Imshaad Isral Ali appeared before Magistrate Eparam Rokoika and was today granted bail on a sum of $2000 with assurity.
The case was stood down for an hour after the DPP lawyer objected to the bail application made by Ali's lawyer, Mohammad Anwar Khan on the grounds that Ali allegedly violated his bail condition for a case in Nadi.
The DPP lawyer also informed the court that the offence is a serious one and they have strong evidence against the accused.
Magistrate Rokoika asked for Ali's bail conditions which he is alleged to have violated in relation to a case where Ali is alleged to have made a threat and false statement on an aircraft where he is alleged to have made a hoax bomb threat.
Ali's lawyer while making the application for bail stated that Ali is a qualified pilot and is trustworthy and he will appear in court again. The lawyer also informed the court that his client is sickly and he suffers from kidney problems, blood disorder, is a heart patient and a diabetic and he has to go on frequent medical checkups and that he is on a special diet. He also claims that Ali is depressed and has been recommended for counseling.
Ali was granted $2000 bail with assurity and has been ordered to stay with the assurity at 8 miles, to be assisted by assurity when going on checkups, not to reoffend whilst on bail, not to interfere with the witnesses and to report to Nasinu Police Station twice a week. The matter has been adjourned till 27th November.
