Man charged with Holland Street rape to appear in court today
A 19-year-old unemployed man of Vatuwaqa who is charged with allegedly raping a 23-year-old tertiary student 7 times will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon.
The man is charged with 7 counts of rape, one count of assault with intent to rape and one count of robbery.
The alleged incident occurred at Holland Street in Suva in December last year.
Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho has acknowledged the support of the members of the public who came forward with information to assist the police officers.
He says a number of officers from the Southern and Western divisions were tracking the 19-year-old man over the last few weeks.
