A 27 year old man charged with assaulting a police officer was today sentenced to four months imprisonment suspended for two years.
The court heard that on 14th June, Constable Isikeli of Central Police station was on his way home after night duty when he was summoned to attend a brawl at Nairai road in Raiwai.
Constable Isikeli tried to stop the brawl when Sakaraia Filipe who was involved in the brawl punched the Constable several times on his face.
The Constable managed to arrest Sakaraia Filipe and took him to the Central Police Station after which he went to Hospital for check up.
Filipe who has eleven previous convictions was told not to reoffend for another two years.
