A 21yr old man is in police custody after he was arrested with dried leaves believed to be marijuana worth more than $10,000 at the Narain Jetty last night.

Assistant Spokesperson, Sergeant Suliano Tevita has confirmed that the man came from Kadavu on an inter-island vessel.

The Police strike back team was waiting for him at the jetty when the vessel arrived as they had received information before hand.

Twenty-eight sachets and four big parcels of dried leaves were confiscated from him.

Police believe the man went to Kadavu to buy the drugs.

Meanwhile, Tevita said a 58yr old man of Kelikoso, Labasa is in police custody for allegedly assaulting his 28yr old daughter-in-law after an argument.

It is alleged that the man assaulted his daughter-in-law with a stick and as a result she sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Labasa hospital, where she is admitted.

The man is expected to be charged later today.
