A man in his 40's, Kolinio Vunaki has appeared in the Labasa Magistrates court charged with allegedly raping a woman in Tukavesi early this year.

The court heard that the alleged incident happened early this year in Tukavesi and no plea was taken when he appeared in court last Friday.

Magistrate Ropate Cabealawa adjourned the case to be called again tomorrow and he is currently on bail.

Meanwhile Police spokesperson, Ema Mua confirmed that Vunaki was terminated from the Police Force soon after the allegations surfaced against him.

Mua said Vunaki was interdicted and after a police inquiry he was dismissed from the force about two and a half months ago.
