One of the three men involved in the connection of illicit drugs into the country appeared at the Magistrates court in Suva yesterday.

51 year old Wong Kem Lam, is charged with the importation of controlled chemical substance under the Illicit Drugs Act.

No plea was taken but was remanded in custody as Prosecution objected to bail.

The case will be recalled on the 30th of this month while the other two men involved were questioned and released.

Meanwhile Police Assistant spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri earlier confirmed that the $5 million worth of the drugs namely Contact NT is used to manufacture the drug, methamphetamine.

Sokomuri said that it was seized from the Kings Wharf on Wednesday after a joint operation by the Customs and officers from the National Intelligence Bureau.

The Contact NT if it is processed, it has a street value of over $30 million.
