Lautoka Police are looking for a man who allegedly hacked his girlfriend yesterday afternoon.

Assistant Police Spokesperson, Corporal Suliano Tevita confirms the 30 year old victim was at her friends place at a settlement near Lautoka city when the suspect arrived and allegedly hacked his girlfriend with a chopper several times.

The suspect later fled the scene while the victim received several cuts to the hand and head and is admitted at the Lautoka hospital in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, Police have taken an 81 year old man from Savusavu into custody for allegedly being in possession of nine parcels of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Corporal Tevita said the dried leaves are worth $1000 and has been sent to Koronivia research station. The man is expected to be charged as soon as the analysis report is received.
