Police are calling on members of the public especially young females to be aware of people who are offering jobs.

The call comes after a man allegedly attempted to rape a tertiary school student in a hotel room in Labasa yesterday.

Assistant police spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed that the man lured the student into the hotel room under the pretext of employment saying he would take her interview.

He then allegedly attempted to rape the victim, however the girl managed to escape through the hotel window and alerted the police.

Police are questioning the man and have called on members of the public to ask for identity cards from such persons who are offering jobs before committing themselves.
