A Taveuni man has been arrested by Police for allegedly assaulting a youth in a picnic spot on New Years Day prompting the call for parents not to take the Law into their own hands.
According to Regional Police Commander Northern, SSP Luke Qionabaravi the man was looking for his 17 year old daughter, when he saw her with her boyfriend in a vehicle at the picnic spot.
SSP Qionibaravi said the man got wild and allegedly broke the glass of the vehicle before pulling the driver out and allegedly assaulted him.
The victim still is admitted in hospital while the suspect is expected to be charged with assault and damaging property.
The father is expected to appear in the Savusavu Magistrates Court tomorrow.
