A 49 year old Australian man charged with the murder of his father in law two years ago was acquitted by the Lautoka High Court this morning.

Judge Justice Paul Madigan while delivering his judgment said that two out of three assessors found Cecil Phillip Quai Hoi not guilty of murder and the Judge stated that he concurs with the decision and Philip is discharged.

The court heard that on 17th March 2008 Hoi allegedly stabbed his father in law Sarwan Kumar to death in Korovuto Nadi after an argument and it was alleged that Hoi was drunk at the time.

The court was told that Hoi=s wife went to stay with her parents after an argument and Hoi went to confront her family and in the process he allegedly stabbed his father in law which resulted in his death.
