A man is under investigation for allegedly harvesting over 50 tons of sugarcane from his uncle's farm in Nabekabu, Labasa.

The man allegedly threatened his 60-year-old uncle and said that the land belonged to him and he had the right to harvest the sugarcane.

The Fiji Sugar Cooperation is now expected to hand over the matter to Police for further investigation and charges are expected to be laid against the man.

The matter was reported to the FSC by the uncle who said the land was divided amongst the family members but they are yet to receive offer letters from the Native Land Trust Board to harvest the yield.

The FSC than intervened and told the nephew to return over $2500 of payment that was made to him for the cane that he had harvested.
