A 23 old man was today sentenced to 4 months imprisonment by Suva Magistrate Ajmal Gulab Khan after he pleaded guilty to stealing a handbag containing a mobile phone, cash and a flash drive worth $620.

Usaia Koroi, a carpenter stole Zorren Ali's handbag in front of the Village Six Cinemas in Suva on the 23rd of June this year and was caught by two security guards.

Magistrate Khan while passing sentence stressed that such crimes are becoming prevalent with entertainment centers mainly targeted.

He said such acts are preplanned and executed on innocent people and the courts must set a precedence to let people know that these crimes will not be tolerated and a deterrent sentence is warranted.
